A lot of "Outlast II"  players have become frustrated because of the difficulty of playing the video game, which was just launched late last month. However, Red Barrels, the developer of the first-person survival horror game, has just released a new patch on PC to address the problem.

According to the latest Steam news, the new patch for "Outlast II" includes "global rebalancing" of the game's difficulty. While it may not have been specified how the game was tweaked, the developer stated that it introduced "some minor adjustments to the game's difficulty in key areas and moments" and that players, in Normal difficulty, would be offered a "more appropriately balanced experience while still maintaining higher levels of challenge on Hard and Nightmare difficulties."

The patch also increases the size of subtitles, eliminates the extra battery requirements for the in-game camera's microphone, adds several command-line parameters, and fixes several existing bugs, such as the issue on Intel high-definition 4000 cards, the double doors, alternate controller mappings, heretic sound effects, appearance of flickering black squares at the center of the screen, rare crashes, minor gameplay issues, and losing saved games when Steam fails to initialize.

Philip Kollar of Polygon reviewed the game last month. While he did like it for the gameplay and all the frightening experiences, even saying that it may be "the single most qualified recommendation" he had given so far and that he respected the game for it has "the singular focus and intensity" that can trigger one's emotions, which made the game worth it for him, he also expressed that it was very frustrating to play. Hopefully, with the new patch, players will be able to play the game with less frustration and without a hitch.

For now, only PC players of "Outlast II" are able to enjoy the adjustments. Updates for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be released soon.
