Alex's (Laura Prepon) journey may really come to an end in the upcoming season of Netflix's comedy-drama series "Orange Is the New Black."
While viewers remain hopeful that the prisoner may still be alive after that scary scene in the season 3, iDigitalTimes posits that her fate appears to be sealed and that there is no hope. Alex was sure that her former boss was after her head and could not help but get paranoid. When she was cleaning up a shed in Litchfield, an old colleague and a known assassin walked in, pretending to be a security guard.
Although the episode was left hanging, it appears to be a foregone conclusion that Alex was dead. It seemed impossible that she could get away from an accomplished killer intent on ending her life. The prison's current state would also pose as a threat to her, ensuring that she would not get away unscathed. The fact that the assassin was able to fake his identity as a guard showed corruption from the inside.
As for the fate of John Bennet (Matt McGorry), the prison guard whose absence in the previous season was impossible to ignore, things also look grim. The actor spoke to Yahoo about his character's fate for season 4. According to him, it would be up to the writers if Bennet would make a comeback.
"The thing that I can say about Season 4 is that it's the writers' decision about whether or not Bennett is back... I have my fingers crossed that he comes through and is the man that we all hoped he was. But I wouldn't be surprised to find out that wasn't the case. Like me, I guess you'll just have to wait and see," the actor said.
Meanwhile, a new inmate has been added to Litchfield. According to Deadline, Shannon Esper has booked a recurring role as Alana Dwight in the upcoming season of the Netflix series. Although it has not yet been revealed what she will bring to the show, the network assures that Esper will play an important role to the convicts in the penitentiary.
"Orange Is the New Black" season 4 is slated to be released sometime in 2016.
