Nintendo will not be divulging any details about its rumored next-gen platform at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

The big game company is very active in the news lately, with its announced partnership with DeNA and adding mobile games in its arsenal. The company is reportedly developing at least five major mobile game titles to be released in 2017.

However, one of the biggest news concerning Nintendo is its statement that it is developing a new console platform, to supplant its current-gen Wii U. In an announcement for the DeNA partnership, Nintendo specified that a new, much improved and better platform will come in the form of the "Nintendo NX."

According to rumors, more than a replacement for the Wii U, the upcoming NX platform will bridge the gap between the console titles and Nintendo's new mobile gaming direction. Fans' curiosities were already whetted with these teaser announcements. However, it might take longer for fans to get the full details on Nintendo's next device.

According to Nintendo's top chief Satoru Iwata, in a recent investors' meeting, the announcement about the NX will remain just that – an announcement. He reiterated that details will not be available for the console, and it will not be revealed until next year. He then stated that the announcement for the device came early because he wants people to know that Nintendo will not be abandoning the home console system even if they are branching out to include mobile games.

When asked specifically if Nintendo is planning any hints at all at the upcoming E3, Iwata said, "Incidentally, we're getting various questions for this year's E3, like 'Won't there be a NX announcement?', 'Will there be a presentation on smart devices?', or 'Will there be more on the quality of life platform?' However, since we understand that E3 is an event for dedicated video game machines, we do not intend to discuss the smart devices as well as quality of life."
