The 2016-2017 NFL season is still several months away but the numerous teams are finalizing their teams, trading and recruiting new players left and right. With Peyton Manning retired, the Denver Broncos are reportedly trying to build a more powerful and well-rounded team and this may start by bringing in running back Arian Foster.
104.3 "The Fan" host Cecil Lammey recently said via Twitter that the Broncos are one of the few teams that have reached out to recruit Foster. In the comments below, Lammey also pointed out that Foster may retire if none of the teams, including the Broncos, offer him a deal he is willing to sign for.
According to Lammey, the Broncos may have reached out to Foster out of pure courtesty but they are also the most likely team that Foster would sign up for. However, the host did not reveal how or why the Broncos would be in the lead amidst all the other teams reaching out to the famed player.
Foster initially began his career playing for Houston, eventually earning a career-high when he scored 16 touchdowns and ran over 1,616 yards throughout the season. The 29-year-old professional later tore his Achilles tendon and suffered a major groin injury that caused him to sit out of the most recent seasons.
If Foster does return and is recruited by the Broncos, a report from 24/7 Sports indicates that he may not be locked into the starting lineup not only because he is coming fresh from his injuries but also becaused of the stacked backfield of the team, which already includes rookie player Devontae Booker and the returning duo of C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman.
Neither the Broncos nor Foster has officially confirmed the rumors but it is likely the Broncos will make their full announcement regarding their lineup in the weeks to follow as the upcoming NFL season opens.
