New York Jets news 2015: Ryan Fitzpatrick sports trimmed beard, hopes to end recent struggles

Coming off two consecutive losses and losing four of their last five games, New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick decided to change things up and trimmed his beard.

"It seemed like it was time. Switch up the mojo a little bit," Fitzpatrick said, according to ESPN regarding the cutting of his beard.

Fitzpatrick also stated that having less beard made him look younger, the report added. The quarterback turned 33 last Tuesday.

The veteran passer struggled in their past few games, especially with his interceptions throwing four in their previous two outings, which were defeats to the Buffalo Bills (22–17) and the Houston Texans (24–17).

Following their loss to Buffalo in Week 10, Bills head coach Rex Ryan noticed Fitzpatrick's beard and joked that it was disappointing, also saying that the Jets quarterback was not a "handsome kid" with the beard, ESPN reported.

Fitzpatrick told reporters last Wednesday that after looking in the mirror, he agreed with Ryan and decided to say goodbye to his long beard, believing that his look is better.

Now, Fitzpatrick aims to have a better game on the field once the Jets return to action this Sunday taking on the Miami Dolphins for their Week 12 matchup.

In 10 games played this season, his first year with the Jets, Fitzpatrick has 188 completions for 2,199 yards and 16 touchdowns, but also throwing 11 interceptions.

Fitzpatrick secured the starting quarterback job when former Jets starter Geno Smith was involved in a physical altercation in training camp.

Together with their game versus Miami this Sunday, the Jets still have six more games in their regular season schedule and will try to win as much as they can to strengthen their playoff chances.

They are currently on the third spot in the American Football Conference (AFC) East with a 5–5 record, identical with the second-placed Buffalo Bills.
