The new Oxygen OS from China-based mobile phone maker OnePlus was supposed to come out March 27, according to an announcement. However, it seems that there will be a delay on its release.
According to the OnePlus' Reddit AMA, the new Oxygen download will not be available yet.
When asked about the release, a OnePlus official said, "I'm afraid not. We have five phones ready. Again, both releases are ready (I'm using CM 12S, Carl is using OxygenOS as daily drivers) and it's just certification taking a bit longer."
One of the factors why OnePlus is very popular is that its preloaded operating system is custom-made, making the bloatware apparent in other OS almost nil in their phones. Most of the developers for the Oxygen operating system who are working with OnePlus kept the OS clean from any bloat- or malware, and streamlined to achieve maximum performance. The absence of bloatware also means that the user interface is smooth and fluid, the overall mobile system is efficient, and battery consumption is kept to a minimum.
Before OnePlus' statement on the operating system's launch delay, the announcement for the Oxygen OS' impending release came together with leaked photos of how the new, Lollipop-based operating system would look like. In the images tweeted by user leaksfly, the new software has been loaded into a new OnePlus phone. The images did not elaborate on any other new features or changelog.
News about the release also came with an update for the older OnePlus One smartphone. The company will also be releasing a new version of CyanogenMod for the said handset. The newest one, CyanogenMod 12s, will be available for the OnePlus One on March 30. There are no updates yet if the planned update release will also be delayed.
