A key matchup in the Eastern Conference will happen Saturday, when the New England Revolution host the Montreal Impact at the Gillette Stadium.

Saturday's match between the Revs and Impact will be the third this season, with the first one last March ending in a scoreless draw and Montreal winning 3–0 in their second meeting in September.

New England is trying to get back on the winning track as they are currently in a three-match winless streak.

In their past three Major League Soccer (MLS) games, the Revs lost to Saturday's opponents Impact (3–0), had a draw with the Philadelphia Union (1–1), and another defeat against the Chicago Fire (3–1).

The club is currently on the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference with 47 points tied with Columbus Crew SC, two points ahead of the final playoff spot held by the Impact with 45 points.

According to MLS.com, a victory or a draw for New England will clinch the club a playoff berth this season.

Meanwhile, Montreal may be sitting on the sixth and last playoff spot in the conference but could still lose its chance of making it since the club is just a point ahead of seventh placer Orlando City SC.

Unlike the Revs, the Impact is coming off a win in their last MLS match beating the Colorado Rapids 1–0 to end a two-match losing skid, which includes defeats to Orlando City (2–1) and the New York Red Bulls (2–1).

A victory over the Revs will be huge for Montreal as it will give the club 48 points, which will not just be enough cushion from the Lions but also assures a playoff berth for this season.

The match between the New England Revolution and Montreal Impact will take place today, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. EST. To watch via live stream, click here.
