'Mr. Robot' season 1 spoilers: Man from Elliot's past shows up, threatens hack

A man from Elliot's (Rami Malek) past will threaten his hack plans in the upcoming episode of USA Network's cyberpunk-thriller drama series "Mr. Robot."

In "eps1.8_m1rr0r1ng.qt," TV Guide reports that while finalizing his tactics to hack on the Evil Corp, Elliot will be approached by a mysterious person. While it is still not clear whether he is a friend or a foe, the visitor's arrival will nevertheless have an irreversible effect on the young hacker's plans.

Last episode was a big shocker, with the viewers finally knowing the real identities of Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) and Darlene (Carly Chaikin). Elliot found out the truth when Darlene reminded him of their relationship.

The two were celebrating that they had taken a big step on their quest to take down Evil Corp when Darlene told the young hacker she loved him. Elliot responded by kissing her and that was when the girl asked him if he had forgotten that she was his sister.

Panicking, Elliot ran home and decided to find out more about himself on the Internet. While he did not get anything useful on the web, he discovered a blank CD that did. It contained a lot of pictures of Mr. Robot, with a little boy who suspiciously looked like him. This led to the realization that the mysterious leader of the fsociety was actually his father.

This was where the plot becomes woozy for the audience. If Mr. Robot was really who Elliot thinks he was, why has he remained silent over his supposed death? According to Fashion & Style, it seemed unlikely that Mr. Robot was just a figment of Elliot's imagination. Although his mental issues were obviously getting worse, it did not seem possible that his hallucination included his own family.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Malek reacted on people's comments that Christian Slater's character was just completely made up by Elliot. He said that it was understandable that many thought that, as at the beginning of the series, Elliot made clear that he was "creating an imaginary person in his head."

"I think the more we get to know Elliot the more you'll realize what exactly his reality is and I think he'll also come to realize what his reality is. And as vague as that sounds, I think these questions are going to keep coming up well beyond this first season."

"Mr. Robot" airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on USA Network.
