'Mortal Kombat X' DLC release date revealed

Weeks after the release of the much-anticipated "Mortal Kombat X," the clamor of fans wanting to find out when an expansion pack will be released was finally answered. The next DLC pack for the franchise's highly-successful and fastest-selling title to date is set to be released on May 5, and will introduce Jason Vorhees. The iconic movie character from "Friday the 13th" will be included in the upcoming DLC pack as one of the playable Kombatants.

Vorhees will be one of the many DLC-exclusive characters that can be purchased, and the character is bundled in the $30 Kombat Pack DLC collection. He will also be available as a stand-alone character that players without DLC content can buy.

For those who would wish to take Jason Vorhees first for a spin, game developer NetherRealm has made him and most of DLC-exclusive characters appear as an on-and-off character in the game's special Towers. This is useful as there are no gamplay footages available for the character, and hardcore fans may want to know Jason Vorhees' moves and play style. Many are also curious how Vorhees will manage to secure a Fatality or Brutality finish, which are among the features that made the game a household name.

Aside from getting Vorhees, the upcoming DLC will also contain new skins for three characters in the game. Ermac, Mileena, and Reptile will get new costumes as packaged in the DLC.

The "Friday the 13th" murderer is the first of four characters to be released in DLC packs for "Mortal Kombat X." Other DLC characters include Tanya, Tremor, and the Predator. They will be available as bundled characters in the different $30-Kombat packs to be launched for the game, and much like Voorhees, the three other fighters can also be purchased separately once they are released.

"Mortal Kombat X" is currently available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
