"Monster Hunter: World" is possibly one of the most awaited games in the "Monster Hunter" franchise. Its release is coming early next year, and the game has had its closed beta two weekends ago, but it was exclusive for PS Plus subscribers. Fortunately, they are having an open beta this weekend all the way past Christmas.

The greatest thing about the beta this weekend is that it no longer requires a PS Plus subscription. The second round of beta will start on Dec. 22, Friday, and will end until Dec. 26, Tuesday. Gamers can already preload the game so they will no longer need to download during the beta.

The beta version is quite a hefty download at 5.47 GB. Those who have already tried the beta before can always jump right in again if they wanted to. They can expect more players this weekend since the PS Plus exclusivity has been lifted. Those without a subscription to the service are fortunate as they will be able to try some of the online features. However, they will need to get a PS Plus to continue online play once the game is officially released.

Although participation in the upcoming beta no longer needing a PS Plus, it is still somewhat limited. Only players with a PlayStation 4 can try the new game out, and there has been no word of releasing the beta for other consoles. For this weekend's beta, there is not much of a difference from the previous beta except that there will be more players.

There are three quests playable and two areas available for exploration. Players need not expect much of a challenge as the monsters in the beta are quite easy, even for beginners. It does, however, give you a great feel of the game and what to expect when bigger and stronger monsters are available during the game's release.

"Monster Hunter: World" will be released on Jan. 26, 2018. It will be made playable for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
