Miami Heat trade rumors 2015: Dwight Howard heading to South Beach?

The Miami Heat have a great budding center in Hassan Whiteside, but that could change in a snap as Sheridan Hoops reported that Houston Rockets big man Dwight Howard might be joining the boys from South Beach this season.

In the report, according to league sources, Howard is not having the best time, with the Rockets playing with All-Star guard James Harden.

Howard is currently in his third season with Houston and so far is no longer the same dominating center he was when he was still playing for the Orlando Magic.

In 19 games played and started this season, Howard is averaging 13 points, 12 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 32.6 minutes of action per outing.

The 30-year-old center's scoring average this season is the second lowest in his entire career, which means he is not getting enough touches on the ball.

According to the report by Sheridan Hoops, the best destination for Howard if he leaves Houston will be Miami, but a trade deal will have to include Whiteside.

Once the season finishes, Whiteside will be asking the Heat for a much lucrative contract which they will not have the luxury of giving because of their rights in franchise star Dwyane Wade.

Because of this, the report suggests that before Whiteside walks away and look for bigger offers on the market, the Heat should trade him and maybe get Howard.

The potential trade would not just feature Howard and Whiteside, and also possibly include veterans and younger players like rookies, but the swapping of centers will be headlining the deal as well.

If Howard joins the Heat, it will be a brand new big three in South Beach as he will play alongside stars Wade and Chris Bosh, who are helping the team contend this season.

Howard will also again be a franchise player, which he last became playing for the Magic.
