Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra is looking to bring back the franchise to the playoffs and one of the players he will rely on is star guard Dwyane Wade who he said will not be limited in the 2015–16 season.
Last season, Wade again emerged after forward LeBron James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He played in 62 games averaging 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest in the 2014–15 season.
Despite shining again as one of the Heat's leaders, Wade has been plagued by injuries in the past few years that is why one of the concerns for him heading the new season is his health.
In a report by Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post, Spoelstra discussed Wade's leadership.
"Dwyane has to be our leader. He's grown in that role and with new veteran players, everybody naturally turns to Dwyane as the cornerstone of our franchise and they turn to (Chris Bosh) and they turn to (Udonis Haslem). He's fully accepted that responsibility," Spoelstra explained.
The Heat head coach then addressed any possible limits he will impose on Wade's game for the 2015–16 season.
"Dwyane is coming into this season ready for whatever challenges it brings, and I'm not coaching him with restrictions in mind. We'll adapt and be aware of anything that may come up as the season goes on," Spoelstra stated.
Wade is very important for the Heat and keeping him healthy will be a main priority this season.
The 33-year-old guard has spent his entire career (12 seasons) with the Heat and helped the franchise to three championships.
Miami will be back on the court when it begins the preseason on Oct. 4 taking on the Charlotte Hornets, whom they will also host on Oct. 28 to begin their season.
Following the Hornets, the Heat will be heading to Ohio to take on former player LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 30.
