Mewtwo amiibo release date set for October

 Twitter/Nintendo UK

Mewtwo amiibo is coming and its release date has been announced — and it's only good news for those in the United Kingdom.

Mewtwo amiibo will be released on Oct. 23, as announced on Twitter by Nintendo of Europe.

The consumer electronics firm has been teasing about Mewtwo amiibo for some time, and during the San Diego Comic-Con, the figurine was displayed without a lot of word on it, until its Twitter announcement, which finally put the silence surrounding it.

Mewtwo is the first among the characters in the "Super Smash Bros. 4" downloadable content (DLC) that gets to be featured in amiibo and fans have been waiting for it.

Nintedo has nearly used up all characters from Super Smash Bros. and turn them into amiibo figurines, but not for DLC characters.

As mentioned, Mewtwo made it first, but there's hope for Lucas and Ryu fans as Nintendo confirmed that the characters will also be an amiibo soon.

Moreover, there will also be add-on characters, but this announcement has yet to be made. The add-on characters have been picked based on fan votes to be included in the game, as reported in Eurogamer.net.

Nintendo will then start with the launch of figurines based on major characters from Animal Crossing.

At the Gamescom this week, where the release date has been revealed, Nintendo also showcased a three pack of some of the rarest characters in amiibo, including R.O.B. amiibo, as reported by Wii Daily.

It remains to be seen if Mewtwo amiibo will also be included in a three pack offering or will be released as a standalone amiibo.

As for fans in the territories of North America and Japan, there still isn't any release date announced for Mewtwo amiibo.

However, it is expected that a U.S. and Japan release date will be close to that of the U.K. release.
