"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is definitely an important game for Electronic Arts and game developer BioWare. The game is the follow-up to the widely successful "Mass Effect" trilogy and there are legions of fans waiting for it to come out. In an interview with Game Informer, producer Mike Gamble revealed that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is the biggest game they have ever worked on in terms of the content.
BioWare has worked on some of the most fleshed out role-playing games (RPGs) ever, so that's a huge statement. If it's bigger than "Baldur's Gate," "Dragon Age," and the "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" games, then RPG fans will probably be lining up to grab a copy once it comes out.
Game Informer says "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is going to be less linear, so that means there will be more exploration involved. In other words, there will be more optional side quests to divert players from the main story.
Loyalty missions are back after its absence in "Mass Effect 3." These missions are optional, but they are worth pursuing if players want to know more about the backstories of their allies.
Meanwhile, in an interview with OPM U.K. (via PlayStation Universe), Gamble spoke about the core theme of the game.
"The premise is about galactic exploration. It's much like modern day Elon Musk-ism, which is: 'I wonder if we can get here? I wonder if we can do that?' Andromeda is a human story, but much like on Earth where we would have people from all walks of life join these expeditions, the same thing happens in the Milky Way — all different types of races join this expedition, and we do it as one concerted effort as opposed to separate people doing separate things," he explained.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will hit the shelves in March 2017. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
