'Mass Effect 4: Andromeda' news: Game director leaves project; what's next for 'Andromeda'?

 Bioware

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is one of the anticipated game releases this year, but what would the future be for the Bioware game project now that senior development director Chris Wynn has announced his departure?

Wynn took to Twitter just before Christmas the announcement of his departure from Bioware, and fans got worried about the development of the next "Mass Effect" installment.

Wynn may not have provided his reason for leaving, but Bioware already issued a statement via Game Informer to assure fans about the future of the game.

"Chris was a great member of the team. We want to thank him for his contributions and we wish him the best in his new adventures," the statement reads.

Bioware also added that development of the game continues at the company's Montreal, Edmonton, and Austin bases.

Bioware may have lost an important team member, but it also welcomed back its lead writer, Drew Karpyshyn, who was on a three-year break from the video game writing business.

According to Game Rant, Karpyshyn felt it was an appropriate time to return to writing projects for Bioware, but it remains to be seen what type of project Karpyshyn will be handling.

Details about the third-person shooter game remain scarce and fans only rely on speculations, rumors, and bits of information given by developers. What's known so far about the game is that it will still focus more on exploration.

Earlier leaks suggested that players will explore different planets in the Andromeda galaxy while having the ability to upgrade the ship and crew members. Players can also collect resources and start their own colonies.

Wynn's departure may be shocking for fans, but at least Bioware was quick enough to give a statement of assurance to all of "Mass Effect's" fans.

More updates are expected to drop in the coming months, as "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and personal computer (PC) in December 2016.
