Manchester United will play CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night as the English Premier League team looks to get a tighter grip on a top two spot in Champions League Group B. United come into today's fourth round of Champions League group games currently lying second in Group B, but they have zero room for error right now with CSKA in third on the same points as United, and PSV Eindhoven also just one point behind in fourth place.
Wolfsburg are currently topping Group B with six points from their opening three games, where as United have stumbled somewhat in this year's competition with just four points from their opening three matches.
However, United have the chance to exert their presence on the group today, and if they can claim a home win over CSKA then they would pull three points ahead of their Russian rivals, and can potentially go top of the group if the Wolfsburg vs PSV game goes their way.
United will be hoping that new young prospect Anthony Martial will be able to continue his excellent form in today's game. Many raised their eyebrows when United signed the 19 year old for a massive 36 million pounds in August, but since arriving he has proven his has potential to be a world class player.
Martial has scored five times already this season, and he has not even been playing up front all the time; manager Louis van Gaal has also played him wide on the left on a number of occasions.
Van Gaal has said about Martial: "He is very young but I think it is better he develops in the striker's position. But he can play left, striker and number 10. He doesn't want to play number seven [wide right] but I am convinced he can. That's another story."
The Dutch coach has also spoken about English striker Wayne Rooney, who has come in for some strong criticism for his performances this season so far. Rooney has only scored two goals for United this season, but van Gaal remains unconcerned by the Rooney-bashing.
The United coach has said, "It is always Wayne Rooney, but I can imagine that it is because Wayne Rooney is a fantastic player so the expectation is much higher than another player in another club. I have confidence in this player. He gives more than just scoring goals, he's our captain and also an example for our whole team. He has more credits than any other player."
