Luis and Andrew Palau ask British Christians to pray for Chile

CHILE (ANS) - As renowned international evangelist Luis Palau and his son Andrew embark upon two major evangelistic festivals in Chile October 26-30, they're urging UK Christians to pray for these strategic missions.

"Marvellous though the release of the 33 Chilean miners was a couple of weeks ago, I believe the prospect of thousands of their compatriots turning to Christ during this weekend's mission to Chile would be an even greater miracle," said Luis.

Such is the strategic importance of the mission to this nation of 16 million people that Christians across the UK were today urged to pray for its success using a six point plan.

This focuses specifically upon:

• The many hundreds of churches participating in the festival
• Luis' meeting with President Sebastian Pinera and other government officials
• The huge media opportunities for Luis and Andrew
• The impact of the many TV and radio broadcasts that will air
• The believers who have been trained to counsel and follow up new converts, safety, good health, and the anointing of the Spirit of God on both Luis and Andrew.

Luis said: "After the amazing rescue of the trapped miners, and the vast international attention that great effort generated, we now have a God-given opportunity to share with Chileans the true hope of salvation that we have in the person of Jesus Christ.

"Miraculous though that rescue effort was, however, as Christians we must recognise that the greatest miracles of all take place when the Holy Spirit opens peoples' eyes to let them affirm that Jesus is Lord.

"The next few days in Santiago and the coastal town of Vina del Mar are therefore profoundly, even eternally, significant for the future spiritual direction of this part of South America.

"We urge our British brothers and sisters in Christ to join us in this practical, yet we trust very powerful, prayer strategy for the as yet unreached people of Chile."
