LG TV packs double-sided OLED displays

LG introduced its newest TV that should make it easier for two people to watch each of their favorite shows in one display — a double-sided TV.

The new, unique display was unveiled at IFA in Berlin this week. The TV has an 111-inch display, a design achieved by the electronics company by putting together three 65-inch OLED displays, while maintaining the overall set to be just millimeters thick.

The double-sided OLED TV allows viewers to experience different shows on both TV sides at the same time.

Along with the 111-inch model, LG also introduced the 55-inch variant — that's two sets sporting 5.3 millimeter thickness.

However, both of them are still on their prototype stages, but it pretty much shows what LG is capable of introducing to the market.

Ultra-sharp TV sets are not the only newcomers from LG. At the same event, LG also introduced its wallpaper OLED panel.

It also measures 55 inches but is very thin at 0.97 millimeters, as noted in Geek. This wallpaper panel has a magnetic back that makes it stick to walls very easily.

Furthermore, the OLED panel is also flexible and can literally act as a wallpaper, hence the name. A video below shows how awesome the wallpaper display is.

Dr. Ching W. Tang, who is considered as a pioneer in OLED technology, said during the IFA presentation that OLED display is less complicated to put up compared to LCD TVs, which ultimately would entail less manufacturing costs.

It's expected that the super thin TV won't be so popular when it comes to the consumer market. A TV set of those sizes would surely require a large room and viewing simultaneously won't be a pleasant experience for the family, unless headphones will be used when viewing.

LG's double-sided TV is more geared toward corporate firms that could use the set as advertising displays.
