LG is now offering a flip phone that runs on 5.1 Android operating system (OS).
Flip phones and other types of handheld mobile devices that aren't in the mold of today's conventional smartphone have generally been phased out or at least, scaled down in terms of production due to most consumers preferring the devices of today. South Koreans have a different opinion when it comes to their phones, however, and they have shown a desire to hang on to their flip phones even with other more advanced options being made available.
Now, the phone known as the LG Gentle brings the flip phone aesthetic together with the smartphone capabilities, or at least most of them, as it has been officially launched in South Korea, according to NDTV.
As for the specs of the LG Gentle, it has a 1.1 GHz quad core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. The phone also features many of the same connectivity options that are found in the smartphones of today, such as Bluetooth, WiFi, and 3G.
The phone's cameras are significantly weaker than those of its smartphone counterparts as it has a 3-megapixel rear shooter paired up with one up front that maxes out at 0.3.
The LG Gentle also has one 3.2-inch LCD touchscreen. Some of the other recently released flip phones have featured two screens.
Finishing off the phone is a faux-leather exterior for that needed touch of aesthetic excellence.
As of now, it appears the LG Gentle is unlikely to ever make it North America, according to Engadget. Apart from the fact that demand for flip phones is not as significant in North America as it is in South Korea, there's also the issue of price, as devices such as the LG Gentle cost a lot to import.
Unless something unforeseen takes place, the LG Gentle is likely to only be available in South Korea.
