Learn how to switch negative feelings off, says Joel Osteen

When negative thoughts come, decide to switch them off.

This is what preacher and evangelist Joel Osteen is saying on his Facebook page as he encourages people to "think better, live better."

Osteen said that everybody has their own struggles, and that the first step in overcoming problems is to get rid of negative thoughts.

"Whether you're blessed in one area, or blessed in another, there will be things that can frustrate you, things you don't understand, things God is not removing. You have to make up your mind you're not going to let it sour your life," he said.

Osteen explained that when God is not removing an obstacle, then there is a reason behind it. "Are you waiting for God to remove something before you can be happy, before you can pursue a dream? If God is not removing it, it's not an accident. You have what you need right now," he said.

People should take the initiative to steer their thoughts, and eventually their lives onto the right track, according to Osteen, and this can only happen when people make the decision to change. "Start thinking positive, faith-filled, God thoughts and prepare to soar into your destiny," he urged.

He added that people who can't think positive thoughts cannot expect to live a positive life, since people's thoughts will determine the lives they are going to live. So if people set their minds on what's good and pure, then it will translate into their lives.

"Shake off the discouragement, overlook the offenses, and keep doing the right thing when the wrong thing is happening. If you'll do this, in the end you'll be vindicated, promoted, and honoured," he said.
