"King of Fighters 14" will feature a roster of 50 playable characters right from day one.

In an interview with Famitsu that has since been reported on and translated by Siliconera, "King of Fighters 14" director Yasuyuki Oda confirmed that the game's sizable collection of 50 characters will be ready to go right from the start.

The game's director even said that the 50-character roster would be one of the main selling points for the upcoming fighting game.

Oda also confirmed that the development team has already decided on the roster that will be featured in the game.

The director also confirmed that the 50-character roster would be made up of both new and familiar faces, although he did not reveal exactly how many fighters would be completely new.

Oda also indicated that the new characters that will be introduced in "King of Fighters 14" will feature some elements that are unique to them.

The game's director was then asked if there was a possibility that more fighters could still be added to the game post-launch, and he responded by admitting that there has been no decision made regarding that matter as of yet.

Oda revealed that the decision to add more characters post-launch would depend on how fans react to the game's day one roster.

Despite the news regarding the game's roster, there's still a lot of things that remain unknown when it comes to the "King of Fighters 14."

For instance, it is still currently unclear if the upcoming game will be available on multiple platforms.

As of now, "King of Fighters 14" has only been announced for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and whether or not it ends up being exclusive to the console is still a mystery, according to GameSpot.

"King of Fighters 14" is currently expected to be released in Japan sometime in 2016.

There's no word yet on when "King of Fighters 14" might make its way to other regions.
