Comedian and television personality Joan Rivers officiated an unplanned wedding on Monday at a New York Barnes & Noble store.

Rivers was at the bookstore talking to fans and signing copies of her book, "Diary of a Mad Diva," when two fans asked if she would marry them.

Jed Ryan and Joe Aiello said they had no idea Rivers was ordained until they read it in her book.

"I jokingly asked [Jed], ''Do you think it's true? Maybe she'll marry us.' And he goes, 'Ask her.' So I did," Joe recounted to "Entertainment Tonight."

"I don't think he really thought I would, and neither one of us thought she'd say yes!"

Rivers did say "Yes," however, and married the couple in front of 400 onlookers.

"The power that is granted to me as an ordained minister of New York City, I now pronounce you – and it's wonderful because you're my second marriage – husband and husband."

Rivers also shared the news of the nuptials with millions of her fans.

"Performed a gay wedding at my book signing of DIARY OF A MAD DIVA. How great was that?!?" she tweeted.

The first marriage ceremony Rivers officiated was in February 2013, the same month she was ordained by the Universal Life Church (ULC) Monastery. That wedding was between celebrity event planner Preston Bailey and composer Theo Bleckmann.

Other celebrities ordained by ULC include Conan O'Brien, Wendy Williams, Lady Gaga, Stephen Colbert, Tony Danza, Bobby Flay, and dozens more.

According to their website, the ULC has ordained "over 20 million ministers worldwide" in over 35 years.

"The ULC is open to people of all faiths, offering everyone the religious freedom to become an ordained minister and practice your beliefs."

The ordination service is offered for free.
