Jeremy Lin news: Free agent to end up with Rockets, Nets or Pistons?

Rumours abound that Jeremy Lin might return to the Houston Rockets, since their new head coach Mike D'Antoni recently praised him in an interview, reports Paper City Mag. The team is heading right into the 2016-17 NBA season, but this time with their new coach, who was given a three-year deal to head the Rockets. He coached Lin while they were at the Knicks, where they had a "breakout stretch" the world dubbed "Linsanity".

According to D'Antoni, "With Linsanity, we had 11 games, if I'm not mistaken, where we were the No. 1 defensive team in the league with Lin as the point guard. Nobody says that. Nobody says we were 10-1, or 9-1, with Lin." He even called Lin as "unbelievable" and a "great player". This is not breaking any NBA rules, states Sportsrageous, since it is mainly an opinion on the player. He even says, "I hear he's available, by the way." D'Antoni then sweeps it down by adding, "We won't get into that."

Movie News Guide, on the other hand, says that while D'Antoni could definitely benefit once more from using Lin, the Rockets were not entirely hospitable to the player the last time he was with them. However, his bond with D'Antoni should clear off the bad air with the rest of the team. He also played some of his best scores with D'Antoni with an average of 14.6 points in 35 games.

Meanwhile, Yibada reports that Lin might also end up joining the Detroit Pistons. The player is said to be instinctively not "ball-heavy," but he can be when the situation calls for it, and this is said to be the best kind of backup point guard the market is calling for, and it would very well cost any team a lot to keep him in their label.

Lin has also been associated with various other teams. The Brooklyn Nets are also seeking a good point guard, and they don't have any bad history with Lin. However, he is still a free agent, so the bidding war might just escalate from here.
