When he was told he only had a short time to live, 15-year-old Jak Trueman's dearest wish was simply to be able to take his girlfriend to the prom before he passed away, the Mirror reports.
Trueman was diagnosed with terminal cancer and when doctors told him is dying, he said he wanted to take his girlfriend, 14-year-old Hannah Boyd to the prom. His family and friends, together with the whole school gathered together to grant Trueman his dying wish.
They organised his prom attendance at the last minute and when the couple arrived, they were applauded by over 200 tearful classmates and teachers of West Calder High, West Lothian, Scotland.
It was held at Livingston Football Club near the family home in Mid Calder, West Lothian.
Trueman and Boyd have been going out for over 20 months, and his mother Allison, 44 describes them as really close.
"We will just take it minute by minute hour by hour," she said. "The prom was about my boy and Hannah."
"He managed to make the evening for 10 minutes through wonderful courage and determination," she added. "Jak and Hannah are exceptionally close and I think it is absolutely magical that the school brought the prom forward. It is overwhelming what the school has arranged."
Jak has terminal T-Cell Lymphoma, diagnosed in August last year. He was set to undergo more treatments, but doctors recently discovered that the cancer already spread throughout this body.
The teenager has decided to dedicate his remainding time to raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Research charity. He has already raised over £33,000 in less than a week, thanks to his supporters.
"I would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and everyone who has helped me over the past six months, they have tried their best for me," he said.
