Does Apple have any plans to release a new iPad mini? A number of reports have been talking about the iPad mini 5 for months now, however, Apple has yet to mention if they are planning to release an updated iPad mini. The tablet was also noticeably absent during the company's launch events this year.

Some people may have given up on the iPad mini 5, but PC Advisor has reported that Apple may unveil the tablet in March 2017 along with the iPad Pro 2. They didn't exactly explain how they came up with the date, so it's likely a guess. Well, it's as good as any. The publication also believes the device may be called the iPad Pro mini.

Meanwhile, some analysts believe that Apple will not release a new iPad mini anytime soon. Based on this information, Yibada went on to speculate that the updated tablet may come out in March or September 2018.

If the iPad mini 5 does come out early next year, PC Adviser says it may be equipped with an A9 processor and an M9 motion coprocessor. The tablet may also have an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.2-megapixel front camera, a 7.9-inch Retina IPS display with integrated 3D Touch, and an aluminum chassis that will make it more durable.

The tablet will allegedly come with three internal storage options. The base option is 32 GB, but buyers may opt for a 64 GB model or a 128 GB one. Furthermore, the new iPad mini may also ditch the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack just like the iPhone 7. The tablet should be using the iOS 10 when it comes out.

Apple has yet to announce that the iPad mini 5 is under development. Until they make a confirmation, all reports concerning the tablet are rumors at best, so readers are advised to take everything with a grain of salt.
