Pangu successfully came up with the iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak but it may never reach the public since Apple Inc. is expected to unveil iOS 9 in the coming days.
The highly anticipated jailbreak for the recently released iOS 8.4.1 debuted at the HackPwn 2015 conference last week after Pangu demonstrated it using an iPhone 6. It means that the security updates that were released by the tech giant from Cupertino, California cannot stop jailbreaks from accessing the file system of iOS-supported devices.
However, the jailbreak developer mentioned in their Weibo account that they might not release the iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak since a new iOS will allegedly come out next week.
Recent reports suggest that those who want to jailbreak their Apple devices should opt to continue using the previous iOS 8.4 mobile operating system instead of updating to iOS 8.4.1. Once they upgrade to the iOS 8.4.1, they can no longer go back to the earlier iOS 8.4 edition. Their only option then would be to wait for the release of an iOS 9 jailbreak.
Meanwhile, some of the Cydia tweaks that the current jailbroken Apple devices can enjoy include:
- LinkCollector – This could be useful for those who need to browse through several links in different tabs without having to close the current one.
- QuickSwipe – This provides a faster and simpler way of closing an embedded video by allowing the device to stop it from playing just by swiping it down to return to its original page.
- SafariSearchHider – This could allow jailbroken devices to automatically delete specified websites from the search history without having to choose the Private Browsing Mode or deleting the entire search history.
Jailbreak developers are expected to release an iOS 9-compatible jailbreak soon after the software comes out, allegedly on Sept. 9.
