Indiana Pacers NBA 2015 news: Paul George records career-high 48 points in overtime loss to Utah Jazz

Indiana Pacers star forward Paul George played the best game of his career, offensive-wise, last Saturday; but it was not enough as they suffered their second consecutive defeat, losing to the Utah Jazz in overtime, 122–119.

George tallied a career-high 48 points, shooting 15-of-27 from the field which included 8-of-11 from the three-point area.

The Pacers star completed the splendid performance with eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 42 minutes of action.

Following George in scoring was point guard Rodney Stuckey who had 23 points, also recording three rebounds and three assists coming off the bench.

Forward C.J. Miles added 12 points, while starting point guard George Hill and reserve big man Jordan Hill contributed 10 points each in a losing effort.

The Pacers had control in the fourth quarter and had the chance to seal the win, but were unable to as the hosts rallied and were able to send the game to overtime.

In the extra period, the Jazz had the extra grit and outscored the Pacers 12–9 to steal the victory.

"No question this one really stings. We played well enough to win. A couple of breakdowns late, couple of rebounds we just didn't do enough to finish it. So it hurts," Pacers head coach Frank Vogel said, according to the Associated Press.

In the report, George also expressed disappointment in the defeat and stated, "It really hurts, especially to be up and winning and not taking care of business to close this one out."

The Pacers landed on the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference standings because of the loss, which gave them a 12–7 record.

It does not get any easier for the Pacers, though, as they return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse this Tuesday for a two-game home stand.

The first game of the home stand is a showdown with the Western Conference-leading and still undefeated Golden State Warriors, which will be followed by a clash with the Eastern Conference powerhouse the Miami Heat on Friday.
