HTC One M9 battery problems: 13 hour recharge time

Users of the HTC One M9 have reportedly encountered an issue after updating their smartphones' software version to the latest 1.40.401.8 version. They have reported that their phones now take more time to fully recharge than they usually do.

Latino Post reported that two Italian owners of the HTC One M9 have noticed their devices taking up to 13 hours to recharge completely. This happened after they updated their phones with the latest software.

Phone Arena recently reported that the usual time the HTC One M9 would take to recharge its battery was less than two hours or  a mere 106 minutes. Phone Arena added that a message ("Charging - 13 hours until complete") could also be seen displayed on the home screen.

HTC U.K. later advised users to uninstall the Google Photos app and restart their phones, but it's still unclear whether this was the primary cause of the issue.

The HTC One M9 handset runs on the new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and is powered by a non-removable 2840 mAh battery.

The Taiwanese smartphone maker has recently announced plans to improve its smartphone products after the recent performance of its HTC One M9. Cher Wang, HTC's chairwoman, had announced the company's plan to release a new and improved smartphone called "Hero".

After the announcement, rumors have emerged saying HTC was currently working on a new smartphone called "HTC Aero". This device is expected to sport a Quad HD display screen with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, 3 or 4 GB RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and a larger battery, according to reports.

After the release of the HTC One M9, it's also unclear whether the Taiwanese company will decide to develop a successor.

Founded in 1997, HTC, formerly High-Tech Computer Corporation, is a multinational manufacturer of smartphones and tablets with headquarters in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
