Television writer and actor David Henrie discussed his Christian faith and how he maintains strong values in an interview published Monday.

Henrie said that he has not succumbed to the lifestyle perpetuated by Hollywood, and credits God and his family for keeping him on track.

The 25-year-old actor has been in the entertainment industry since he was a child, and said one of the keys to not getting caught up in the lifestyle is staying focused on his career.

"I think the people in Hollywood who take their sort of abilities more seriously and who are always working on their craft or trying to be the best that they can with what they've been given, those are always the most successful people cause they don't buy into the whole lifestyle that goes along with it," Henrie told The Blaze.

He admitted that it's easier to go along than to go against the grain, but doesn't see a worldly lifestyle as beneficial.

"It is much easier to go along and go party every night or go out every night and go do ridiculous things... [but] that's a waste of time," he said.

"It's much easier that way, but that's the difference between people who are successful and a lot of the times people who fall off the map — and I think that's the difference between a virtuous guy and a guy who is just sort of pleasing his emotions or his passions."

He also said that he surrounds himself with people that challenge him in positive ways.

"Are you surrounding yourself with people who will make you better? You know, my dad always told me put yourself in the room with people who are smarter than you," he said. "I've always followed that and especially as I got older, as I became a man, I took that more to heart and saw fruit from that."

Henrie is best known for his roles on "How I Met Your Mother," "Wizards of Waverly Place," and "That's So Raven." He will appear in the 2015 films "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2," "Little Boy" with Ted Levine and Kevin James, "Men of Granite" with Shirley MacLaine and Aidan Gillen, and other projects.
