Actress Jane Fonda has just earned herself a Golden Globe nod for her brilliant portrayal of Brenda Morel in the new Paolo Sorrentino film called "Youth." It is her first nomination in over 30 years, and many are noticing just how energetic and youthful she appeared in the film.

The actress told the L.A. Times that the secret to her youthful look is her newfound joie de vivre, or the exuberant enjoyment of life. "Staying involved and passionate and curious helps one remain youthful for sure. There's the chronological issue (of age); and chronologically, I could well be dead by now! I'm older than my father was when he died. But spiritually and energetically, I feel younger than when I was 20 and 30," she shared.

"Really, I'm not just saying that," she further insisted. "It all has to do with attitude and how you see life—and that's a theme of the movie. I wasn't happy back then when I was 20 and 30; I was depressed. Now I see my past, and I see a future—and I feel like it's going to be a good one. I feel light and grounded. I'm a very different person than when I was younger and I feel better about myself and my life."

In the movie, Fonda plays an aging diva who decides to star in television instead of another movie, therefore breaking the heart of a filmmaker who is planning to make his last film. When told that she is an icon herself, Fonda remained modest and said that she hardly thinks of herself that way.

"I don't think of myself that way. In real life, no one really feels like an icon. If someone says 'There goes an icon,' I'd look around the room to see who they were talking about!" she said.
