The 2015 National Football League (NFL) regular season has been a roller coaster ride for Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer, who in a press conference after being hailed as American Football Conference (AFC) South champions spoke about the season.

Hoyer said it was a "crazy" year, and indeed it was as he began the season as a starter; got benched; was a backup in the following weeks; regained the starting job; suffered two concussions; and now will enter the playoffs as Houston's main passer.

In a report on HoustonTexans.com, Hoyer admitted that being benched made him disappointed and angry, but had faith in head coach Bill O'Brien and stayed ready.

O'Brien is instrumental in Hoyer's career as he is the one who scouted him at Michigan State; had him join the New England Patriots when he went undrafted; and persuaded him to sign with Houston last offseason.

"I was just always staying ready. I never knew when that opportunity would come. It came a few weeks later and eventually, after the Colts game, I was back," Hoyer said.

The 30-year-old quarterback added that it was all about facing adversity, staying ready, and dealing with injuries, while adding that he would not be where he is now if it were not for O'Brien.

Entering the playoffs as a starting quarterback, Hoyer is looking forward to it, also reminiscing the time he made it to the playoffs as a backup playing for New England.

"Having gone to the playoffs but as a backup, sure you've contributed, but you weren't the one out there on the field," Hoyer shared.

He added, "So to be the guy who's helping contribute, and to be able to win and come back in that locker room and put that hat on, you really feel like we're part of something special."

However, there is not much time to celebrate for Hoyer and the Texans as they return to the field Saturday hosting the Kansas City Chiefs for their Wild Card playoff game.
