Despite a terrible record when he started for the Dallas Cowboys earlier this season, the Houston Texans gave Brandon Weeden a shot at the starting quarterback stint against the Tennessee Titans and he did not disappoint.

Weeden received the starting nod with original Texans starter Brian Hoyer still under the National Football League's (NFL) concussion protocol program.

The 32-year-old replacement shone for the Texans who captured the top spot in the American Football Conference (AFC) South with dominant 34–6 victory over Tennessee.

Weeden began to contribute to offense, rushing for a seven-yard touchdown in the second quarter that gave them a 17–0 advantage.

In the third quarter, Weeden continued to torch the Titans' defense, succeeding on two touchdown passes — a 15-yard pass to wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and a 13-yard pass to wide receiver Nate Washington.

Along with the rushing touchdown, Weeden finished the game completing 15 of 24 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns, not throwing an interception but was sacked once.

Following a great showing, Weeden expressed the happiness with the victory over the Titans and said, according to ESPN, "We needed this one. As a team, we needed this one. It feels good personally, I'm more excited for this team."

Along with Weeden, quarterback B.J. Daniels, who was recently signed coming from the Seattle Seahawks practice squad, also had the chance to play Sunday and had one completion for seven yards.

The last test for the Texans before the regular season closes is another division matchup taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars for Week 17 action on Jan. 3, 2016.

Houston aims to make it to the playoffs this 2015 season after failing to reach it in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Before that, the Texans made it to the Divisional Playoffs for two consecutive seasons (2011 and 2012) but were always bowing out in that stage, losing to the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots, respectively.
