Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard is set to be a free agent in 2016, but that is not a thing of concern for him as of the moment as he wants to focus on winning a championship.
"There is no need to live in the future. I'm not a guy who lives in the future. The only moment that matters is right now and what we accomplish as a team," Howard said last Wednesday.
The 29-year-old basketball star also stated, "There is no need for me to focus on anything that's going to happen next summer. My job is to focus on how I can help this team be the best team in the NBA and win a championship."
Howard played in a career-low 41 games last season due to injuries but will be playing a lot this season as Rockets head coach Kevin McHale said during media day that they plan to use him more, although his minutes will be capped.
Despite dealing with injuries, the eight-time All-Star still averaged 15.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game in the 2014-15 regular season.
Howard, who has been in the National Basketball Association (NBA) since getting drafted in 2004, believes he is still young despite playing for 12 years already.
"I got about a good 10 years left in me. I'm going to give everything I got for these 10, 11 years I got left," the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year stated.
Howard joined the Rockets before the 2013–2014 season, signing with the team as a free agent after a disastrous stint with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Since then, he thrived, although not as well as he did in his time playing for the Orlando Magic. Nevertheless, he is performing great with Houston, which he said have been doing great things for him that is why he is focused on bringing a championship to the city.
