As the regular season nears its ending, two Western Conference clubs trying to make it to the playoffs will collide on Saturday as Houston Dynamo host Colorado Rapids at the BBVA Compass Stadium.

Dynamo won in their last outing in Major League Soccer (MLS) defeating Sporting Kansas City 1–0.

Before that, the Orange men were in a two-match losing slide suffering defeats to Real Salt Lake (RSL) (3–1) and Philadelphia Union (2–0).

Houston is currently on the eighth spot in the West with 38 points tied with RSL and is three points behind the last playoff spot currently held by the Portland Timbers with 41 points.

A win for Dynamo will tie them with Portland but the last time they defeated Colorado in MLS was in 2009, according to MLS.com.

MLS.com added that in nine meetings between both clubs since then, the Rapids have won five of those matches with four ending in draws.

The clubs already met twice this season with the first one back in March ending in a scoreless draw and the second last August finishing in favor of Colorado.

The Rapids would love to continue winning over Dynamo when they meet again this Saturday.

Colorado is currently in a three match winless streak after a 2–0 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC, a 1–1 draw against D.C. United, and another defeat facing Toronto FC (3–1).

The Rapids are currently last in the Western Conference standings with 34 points and are needing a win to keep their playoff chances alive.

They are trailing the Timbers by seven points for the final playoff spot and a win against Houston will not really move them in the standings but will be helpful in the future as they continue their campaign to be in the top six.

The match between Houston Dynamo and Colorado Rapids take place on Saturday, Sept. 26, starting at 8:30 p.m. EST. To watch via live stream, click here.
