Honduras vs Ecuador World Cup 2014 preview

Honduras and Ecuador will contest a vital game for both teams in World Cup 2014 Group E on Friday night. With both teams losing their first game, the stakes are high, and whoever loses today will likely be on the plane home next week.

Today's game is the third of three taking place from Brazil on Friday. The match kicks off at 6 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on TV on ESPN. The game can also be watched online through live stream – free for subscribers – via the link provided below.

This will be the first time these two teams have met in a competitive fixture. They have, however, met 13 times in friendlies, but this will be very different as both teams are fighting for their World Cup survival today.

Of their previous 13 matches against one another, Ecuador have won three, Honduras have won two, and there have been 8 draws.

They actually played as recently as November 2013 in Houston, where they contested a 2-2 draw.

However, Honduras come into the game in poor form. They have won only one of their last eight matches, drawing three and losing four others. They also have not ever experienced a win at a World Cup Finals. Of their previous seven World Cup Finals games they have drawn three, and lost four.

Ecuador meanwhile have only have one victory in their last eight games too; against Australia in March. In that game they were in fact 0-3 down but stormed back to win 4-3. But apart from that win their recent form has been very poor.

Both teams need to see massive improvements today if they are to give themselves a fighting chance at making it out of this group.

Honduras vs Ecuador will kick off at 6 p.m. EST and can be watched online by clicking here.
