Ever since the Showtime bosses let slip during the Television Critics Association's press tour in Pasadena that Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) will live and reunite with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), fans of "Homeland" have been wondering what his health condition will be going into the upcoming season.
When asked point blank if the agent is dead, the network programming president Gary Levine had an interesting answer to excite the viewers. According to him, Quinn is alive, but only just. He is still fighting for his life and in the event that he luckily escaped his harrowing ordeal, he will never be the same Quinn that everyone has come to know.
"Quinn is severely damaged. There is no question about it. The life-or-death question remains. But if he should live, it will not be in any way, shape or form the way he has lived to date," he shared with Entertainment Weekly.
Producer David Nevins also commented on the difference between "Homeland" and "Game of Thrones," with both shows opting to give cliffhangers on whether or not their characters would live or die. According to him, the Showtime series is not "a supernatural show," so viewers should not expect a "supernatural solution" for Quinn, should he live.
Vanity Fair has an interesting plotline for Friend's character, stating that he will most likely be dealing with his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in season 6. After everything he has been through, Quinn will reportedly suffer from his harrowing experience with the jihadists who caught and tortured him last installment. This will fit the "severely damaged" storyline the showrunners are planning for Quinn.
Meanwhile, the series will be returning to the United States as the setting for the upcoming season after shooting in various countries overseas in the past. Nevins said the creative team behind the successful series has been wanting to do another American story. He said that most of the scenes would be shot primarily in and around New York City, but not exclusively.
"Homeland" season 6 is expected to return this fall.
