NBC has recently released a new trailer for its miniseries "Heroes Reborn" and fans are excited to see some of the old faces from the original series make a comeback.
Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), the time-traveler, is back and it looks like he is ready to kick some bad boy's behind. Instead of his usual shy demeanor, Hiro is now sporting a more aggressive persona, complete with slicked-back hair style and sharp suit. At the end of the promo, he can be seen demonstrating his improved swordsmanship against a foe in a garage battle.
Aside from Hiro, other old hands seen in the trailer include Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) and Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy). Comingsoon.net reports that the clip "evokes the wonder and ambition of the first season." "Reborn" will pick up a year after the Odessa attack that transpired in the last season of "Heroes." After the devastating incident, people blame those with extra ordinary abilities for what happened, forcing them into hiding.
The series will be introducing a dozen new characters, including vigilantes like Luke (Zachary Levi) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni). Creator Tim Kring explained during the Television Critics Association (TCA) Summer Press Tour why some of the original characters from the NBC series are not included in the spin-off.
According to Deadline, he said that "vital principals" like Claire (Hayden Panettierre), Sylar (Zachary Quinto) and Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) will not be joining the others simply because they are not available. Kring also said that the decision to bring back old characters depended on "what the story dictated" on the new show.
The creator assured fans, however, that just because their favorite heroes will not be seen in "Reborn" does not mean that they are gone for good.
"The show was designed to be elastic in its premiere. I always saw it as a show that could repopulate itself," he said.
"Heroes Reborn" will reportedly run for 13 episodes, and according to Kring, this is the "perfect number" for them to "break story." He said this will allow them to do "an aggressive storytelling."
"When you have an endless road ahead of you, no matter how hard you try, you have to hold back things. The art of the stall. But with aggressive storytelling, we're putting 50 pounds in a 10-pound bag," he shared.
