One half of the Splash Brothers, Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, is uncertain last Friday versus the Boston Celtics after suffering a right ankle sprain in Tuesday's 131–123 win over the Indiana Pacers, their 23rd consecutive.
Thompson led the Warriors in the win that kept them unbeaten in the 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season.
The 25-year-old torched the Pacers with a season-high 39 points, while shooting 13-of-21 from the field which included 10-of-16 from the three-point area.
Along with his offensive production, Thompson also had seven rebounds, six assists, and one block.
Unfortunately, with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, Thompson sprained his ankle when he landed on the foot of teammate Shaun Livingston, following an attempt to block a shot by Pacers forward Chase Budinger.
Thompson hopped on one leg after the landing and was unable to put weight on his right ankle for a moment, before walking to the locker room.
Following the game, Thompson told reporters that the ankle will be sore for a few days but he will be alright.
In a report by the San Jose Mercury News, Thompson was unable to join the team's Wednesday practice but did shooting drills.
"We're obviously going to be cautious with it. If there's any doubt about it, then we'll rest him," Golden State's interim head coach Luke Walton said, according to the report.
"The training staff seemed pleasantly surprised by how it looked this morning, and he said it feels pretty good. It's nice to have these two days to get a sense of how it's feeling," he added.
Besides Thompson, veteran guard Leandro Barbosa is also questionable versus the Celtics after not playing last Tuesday against Indiana due to an illness, the report added.
The Warriors are aiming to take the solo hold of the second longest winning streak in the NBA when they face Boston this Friday.
Currently the champions are undefeated in their past 27 regular season games (which include four wins from last season) and are tied with Miami Heat.
