Golden State Warriors NBA 2015 news: Historic 16€“0 start achieved in blowout win over Los Angeles Lakers

The defending champions Golden State Warriors did more than just dominate the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday for a 111–77 win, the victory also made them the first team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) to start a season at 16-0.

"It's a special accomplishment any time you can do something that hasn't been done before," Warriors point guard and reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Stephen Curry said according to ESPN.

Curry again had a splendid performance to lead the Dubs, tallying 24 points, four rebounds, nine assists, and two steals in 30 minutes played.

The 27-year-old point guard put on another show, weaving through the defense with his crossover moves; slashing to the rim; and hitting his shots.

As the Warriors were already cruising to the win with the third quarter about to close, Curry headed to the bench and never played in the final frame.

Helping Curry was defensive specialist forward Draymond Green who had 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks.

Veteran guard Leandro Barbosa led the bench in scoring with 13 points, while Curry's Splash brother Klay Thompson added 11 points in the win.

"We're a young team, very hungry and we've got great veterans that won't let us be complacent. Hopefully it sends a message throughout the league that we're here to stay for a while," Thompson stated following the victory, according to the Associated Press.

It is very impressive how the Warriors are doing this season, coming off a championship-winning year and accomplishing all of these feats without their original head coach Steve Kerr.

Kerr is still dealing with health issues following multiple back surgeries in the offseason. Interim head coach Luke Walton has taken his place and is so far doing a great job.

The next team that will have a shot to end the streak and beat the Warriors for the first time this season are the Phoenix Suns, who will host the champions this Friday.
