Friends and Heroes releases Bible studies for media-savvy kids

The makers of the award-winning children's TV series Friends and Heroes have put together a new range of accompanying Bible studies to engage today's generation of media-savvy, TV-watching, cartoon-loving kids with the Bible message.

Friends and Heroes is the animated action-adventure series that was recently broadcast on BBC2. It follows Macky and his friends through the streets of Alexandria, taking in stories from both the Old and New Testaments, and demonstrating to children in a lively way the relevancy of the Bible in making every day decisions.

Friends and Heroes proved a hit with children and went on to win the Gold Award as the Best Christian Youth and Children's Programme 2007 at the annual Christian Broadcasting Council media awards last December.

The show's makers have put together the Friends and Heroes Sunday School Lessons, which are free to use in churches that have a Friends and Heroes Presenter's Licence.

The 26 new lessons have been drawn up by experienced Sunday school teachers, in collaboration with professional writers and designers.

The lessons are also designed for long-term engagement with the show. For Series 1 alone, the lessons will provide enough Sunday school material to last around six months and include instructions for themed games and crafts, and printable take-home fun activities too.

DVDs of series 2 and 3 of Friends and Heroes are now in production and will be released with similar Sunday school material from March onwards.

Churches which are already registered to use Friends and Heroes DVDs will be able to access the lessons free of charge. Other churches interested in using the material will be required to purchase the DVDs and the necessary public display licence. Both are available from HERE
