Nintendo's tactical role-playing game "Fire Emblem Heroes" has released an update that expands the game with a host of new content, including a new storyline that expands the game's original narrative.

This new storyline is referred to by Nintendo as a second book to the game title, and centers on the ongoing fight for dominance between fire and ice.

It also introduces some new characters to the game. The first is the ice princess Fjorm, who will serve as the new main protagonist of the story. The lance wielder will team up with other characters from the franchise in other to beat the fiery villains headed by Surtr, the ruler of flame.

Fjorm is a five-star character which will be available to all players who complete the first chapter of the new storyline. The other playable characters include Dorcas from "The Blazing Blade," Lute and Joshua from "The Sacred Stones," and Mia from "Path of Radiance."

In addition to the new characters, the new update also caps stamina costs for all story and paralogue maps at 10 points. This will allow players to plow through the new story at a faster rate, since it will be easier to play in a row.

Other changes to be implemented in the new update include the limit of the barracks. It is being expanded by 100, allowing players to have a maximum of 300 heroes collected. Some less used spells like Glimmer and Sol are also given shorter cooldowns in order to make them more viable in-game.

The update also adds a new weapon refinery system that adds effects or bonus damage to generic weapons and some legendary weapons. The system makes use of in-game resources to initiate the refinement.

Many of the updates reflect how the game values the feedback from its community, as most of the changes come in response to players' suggestions.
