'Fallout 4' release date: Game may be unveiled at 2015 E3 trade show

Game juggernaut Bethesda Softworks is set to make its first appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this June in Los Angeles, California. According to a Crossmap insider, it is very likely that the developer will announce the release date for "Fallout 4" during the said convention.

According to the report, Bethesda may be looking to set the new game in a post-apocalyptic New York City or Chicago. Their last entries in the series, 2008's "Fallout 3" and 2010's "Fallout New Vegas," took place in Washington D.C. and Las Vegas, respectively.

One of the biggest indications of the possible unveiling is the header at the official "Fallout" website. Sites like Gameranx and Gamespot have observed that after five years, the header was changed to the same image used when the company was marketing "Fallout 3."

The image referred to is a piece of artwork showing people lining up to enter a vault, the underground homes in the series. But while the image is the same, there is no logo or game title. The previous header was an image representing "Fallout New Vegas." Changing this image five years later right when the company is about to make an appearance at the E3 hints that "Fallout 4" just might be right around the corner.

Word on the street is that Bethesda's "The Elder Scrolls VI: Argonia" may be hitting store shelves before "Fallout 4." It was allegedly announced at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show that the sixth "Elder Scrolls" title will be shipped out by the first quarter of 2016. Venture Capital Post cited that there was a rumored leaked script regarding "Wars in Skyrim" but there was also a rumor about Bethesda calling out for voice actors. Because the casting call was for a Triple A title, fans have come to believe it was for "Fallout 4."

Nonetheless, Bethesda will certainly make everything clear for fans at the E3, scheduled to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 16 to 19.
