The F1 Mexican Grand Prix 2016 takes place on Sunday and it is a huge day for both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg as this year's Formula One drivers' championship moves towards its climax. The race has a scheduled start time of 3 p.m. ET (7 p.m. GMT) and can be watched online through live stream via the link below.
Lewis Hamilton stormed to pole position on Saturday, and for a moment it looked like he would have a substantial advantage over teammate and current championship leader, Nico Rosberg.
Rosberg was slower than the Red Bulls throughout qualifying and it looked like he would start well back from Hamilton. However, on his final lap of qualifying he managed to record a lap 0.096 seconds quicker than Max Verstappen to take second on the grid.
The drama in qualifying revealed just how much pressure is on Hamilton and Rosberg, and even though Rosberg has the clear advantage in the championship table, reigning champion Lewis Hamilton has shown the qualities that have won him multiple F1 titles.
Hamilton in recent races has been in spectacular form, and you can see just how much pressure he's been able to put on Rosberg. However, if Rosberg can just continue to stick with Hamilton without cracking and having any disastrous turns in his final three races, he will take the title no matter what Hamilton does.
But Hamilton's form seems to be peaking at the right time, and it makes you wonder how things would be right now if he had not suffered that engine failure in Malaysia while cruising to victory. An extra 25 points for Hamilton right now, would put him just one point behind Rosberg - that coupled with the fact that a win in Malaysia for Hamilton would have dropped Rosberg down from 3rd to 4th, meaning Hamilton would actually be in the lead right now coming into this Mexican grand prix.
But what has happened has happened, and as things stand Rosberg comes into this race 26 points in the lead, with three races remaining and a maximum of 75 points available.
If Hamilton suffers any blowouts in the final three races, Rosberg will be able to confirm himself as the champ.
But if Hamilton can avoid any technical problems with his car, and can avoid making any major mistakes - such as slow starts - then he could very well steal this title away from Rosberg.
Rosberg has been struggling to keep pace with Hamilton all weekend in Mexico, and has been around 0.3 to 0.5 seconds behind his teammate. Not only that, but Rosberg has even been struggling to keep up with the Red Bulls, and that perhaps has been the more alarming thing for him.
But then again, Rosberg was able to get things together just in time to take 2nd place on the grid. If he can continue to keep in touch with a flying Hamilton for just three more weekends he will be able to hold on, but if he cracks at any moment under this pressure then he could hand Hamilton the initiative, and the British driver is unlikely to give Rosberg any second chances if he can get his nose in front at this late stage of the season.
