Evangelist Michael Ramsden to preach at 'site of Jesus' resurrection' on Easter Sunday

Michael Ramsden

Evangelist Michael Ramsden will be speaking live from the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem for an Easter Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday.

The international director of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) and joint director of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA), Michael has spoken in various settings including the White House, NATO HQ in Brussels, and to Members of the European Parliament.

The theme of Michael's Easter Sunrise address will be how the resurrection of Jesus Christ provides certainty in the face of the many challenges and uncertainties of our time.

"As someone who sees the ways in which Jesus Christ is alive today across the globe, it is a great privilege and an honour to be speaking in celebration of the single most important event in history when Jesus Christ was raised back to life," Ramsden said.

The Garden Tomb Association, the charitable trust which owns the garden, says that it is is believed by many to be the garden and sepulchre of Joseph of Arimathea, and therefore a possible site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus.

According to the association, the site fits the Biblical account of the resurrection, because it is:

  • Located in a garden
  • Said to have belonged to a rich man (Joseph of Arimathea)
  • Hewn out of the rock
  • Sealed with a rolling stone
  • Entered through a low doorway
  • Situated by a burial chamber

"Being on location at the Garden Tomb reminds us that Easter isn't some fabricated, distant or fallacious fable, but that it is a credible, historical story about a real person, Jesus Christ. He was the greatest figure of history and continues to change the world as we know it in ways that show that he is still very much alive today," Ramsden said.

The Easter Sunrise Service will be broadcast live on Easter Sunday, March 27, at 6:30am Israel Standard Time (4:30am BST) at www.EasterSunriseService.com.

Hear Michael and the Zacharias Trust team explore the implications of Jesus Christ's life and the issue of suffering at the Why Series on Saturday, May 7 in London. You can book and find further information here.
