Will the Holmeses be united after Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) relapsed to his old addiction in the upcoming episodes of "Elementary" season 4?

Fans of CBS's crime drama were introduced to new series regular John Noble's character Morland, Sherlock's estranged father, during the final episode of "Elementary" season 3 when the detective was kicked out of the NYPD because of his relapse to heroin addiction. Their complicated father-and-son relationship will take another turn as Morland does everything in his power to help his son get his job back.

But now that Morland will get to spend more time with his son in New York, will Sherlock's mother follow them soon?

Zap2it asked executive producer Rob Doherty during a recent press conference if there is a chance to see Sherlock's mom next season, and he replied that they are thinking about the idea.

"I feel like we have an obligation at some point this season to flesh out that story and explain why she is not featured on the show alongside Mr. Holmes," Doherty claimed. "I think that would be a matter of ... I can't say a matter of time [laughs] ... it's a story we need to tell. We need to find the right moment. I think mom is a big reason why Sherlock and his father have struggled to the degree that they have, struggled as father and son."

And if mommy Holmes will decide to visit New York soon, it would also be interesting to see Sherlock's big brother Mycroft (Rhys Ifans) once again to complete the Holmes family reunion. Based on a report from IGN, Doherty also touched on this idea during the 2015 New York Comic Con in early October. According to the executive producer, Mycroft's return will be a fantastic idea. "That's something all of us would love to see and it's something we are aggressively pursuing," Doherty stated at the conference.

"Elementary" season 4 is slated to premiere with the episode titled "The Past Is Parent" on Thursday, Nov. 5, on CBS.
