Star quarterback Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, welcomed their first daughter on August 25 at 7:43 p.m.

The baby's name has not been revealed, but the New Orleans Saint said that both mother and baby are doing well.

"Spent the early morning with our new baby girl!" Brees wrote on Twitter, attaching a photo of himself holding the newborn. "Brit and she are happy, healthy, and doing great! Gods greatest gift!"

The baby girl weighed 7 lbs., 7 oz., and is 20 inches long. "It just melted my heart to watch her born," Brees told PEOPLE. "I actually got to take the snap, so to speak, catch her on the way out."

The outspoken Christian posted a second photo with his daughter on Tuesday, with the caption "Best selfie ever!"

The Brees have three sons – Baylen Robert, 5, Bowen Christopher, 3, and Callen Christian, 2 – and said that their fourth child will be their last.

"Brit was looking at me during that delivery like, 'Hey, this is the last one,'" Drew said.

"I think I'm done. Vasectomy. We've got some football games to win first. And then as I've been told by those who have experienced it, do it Saturday before the final round of The Masters [in April] so I've got an excuse to sit around and watch it."

Brees is credited with contributing to the revival of New Orleans after the devastating emotional effects of Hurricane Katrina. He turned the Saints around from a losing team to Super Bowl champions in just four years.

It was a serious shoulder injury that brought him to the Saints from San Diego, and Brees said that he know sees that it was all part of God's plan.

"Coming to New Orleans was truly a calling," he told Sharing the Victory Magazine in 2011.

"Trust that He's never going to put anything in front of you that's too hard for you, or He wouldn't put it in front of you."
