"Dragon Ball Xenoverse," despite its flaws, has been highly regarded as one of the best video games utilizing the "Dragon Ball" license in years and there have been rumors of a sequel. Now, Sean Schemmel, the voice actor for Son Goku, says the sequel could be in development.
Speaking at the Optimus Bristol Comic Convention (via Saiyan Island), Schemmel spoke out regarding the development of a new game and the work going on regarding the English dub of "Dragon Ball Z Kai" and "Dragon Ball Super."
"I can't confirm it yet but Chris called me and said there's gonna be a game coming out, I'm thinking there's going to be some DLC or maybe another Xenoverse game I wouldn't be surprised. Xenoverse was so successful the publishing company would be stupid not to make another one just for the sake of the money," the actor stated.
Chris Sabat, mentioned by Schemmel in his statement, is known as the voice actor of Vegeta and is also the producer of the English dub for "Dragon Ball Z Kai." It is speculated that if there were any news regarding "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" and other future projects Sabat would be one of the first people to know.
The report also points out that there is one new game confirmed for a Western release, "Dragon Ball Fusions," but states this is for the Nintendo 3DS and that the last handheld game ported to the West was only given localized text but the voices are still Japanese.
If Schemmel's voice talent is to be used it is speculated to be for a major console release, pointing to the upcoming release of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2."
As "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" has not yet been officially announced, there is no set release date for the game although it is speculated to be released before the end of the year.
