The penultimate episode of the phenomenal British drama "Downton Abbey" is right around the corner, which means that only two episodes are left before fans say goodbye to the beloved residents of the sprawling country estate in Yorkshire.
But up to this moment, ITV remains mum about the plot of Downton Abbey's regular series finale, which keeps fans at the edge of their seats.
However, Telegraph UK recently revealed several speculations about the upcoming series ender of the show based on the December 2015 issue of Harpers Bazaar. According to the publication, actress Lily James will reprise her role as the highborn Lady Rose Aldridge on the Christmas Day episode of the series, which also serves as its farewell episode.
James revealed that she was ecstatic when she found out that series creator Julian Fellowes wanted her back in the series since she missed all the friends she met on the set.
"I have such happy, positive memories and a sense of accomplishment about being on the show. I don't know if I'd be sitting here if it weren't for Downton. It would have all been very different," the actress added.
Lady Rose was last seen in the series during its Christmas special last year, when she married the rich Jewish gentleman Atticus Aldridge. The couple moved to New York after their wedding.
After confirming her appearance in the series finale in an interview with Harpers Bazaar, several rumors claimed that Lady Rose will return to the Downton Abbey estate while a child in her womb.
Meanwhile, another spoiler from actor Jim Carter was also revealed in the report. According to the actor, who plays the role of the estate's trusted butler Mr. Carson, the series will have a calm, quiet conclusion. "We don't finish on a climactic note. There are no explosions or charabancs going off cliff edges," he teased.
But several rumors claimed that a "Downton Abbey" spin-off movie could possibly come out in the future, but legendary actress Maggie Smith already told Vanity Fair that that she will not reprise her role as Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, in case a movie is created. "By the time we finished [the Dowager Countess] must have been about 110. It couldn't go on and on, it just didn't make sense," Smith claimed.
The final Christmas special and series finale of "Downton Abbey" will premiere on Christmas Day, but the last regular episode of the series will air on ITV on Sunday, Nov. 8.
