Dog guarding tornado victim reunited with real owner who survived tornado [Photo]

A dog that had stood over the body of a victim from the deadly tornado that hit Oklahoma this week has been reunited with its owner.

A photo of Susie, the 12-year-old Schipperke-Border Collie, went viral after the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office tweeted a photo with the message: "STORY BEHIND DOG PICTURE: The dog was guarding it's deceased owner. Taken to shelter; deputy plans on adopting."

But after spotting a photo of the dog, Sheilla Collins contacted the sheriff's department via Facebook saying that the dog belongs to her brother, Curtis, who lives about half a mile away from where the dog was found. He had been looking for his missing pet since the tornado passed.

Collins left a message on Facebook, telling them that Curtis had survived the tornado. "Please don't adopt Susie Collins. She is my brother Curtis' dog and he is alive and the only reason he is not well is that he is looking for Susie," she wrote.

Over 50 pets have reportedly been pulled from the rubble in the aftermath of the tornado, which killed 24 people, including 9 children.

One of the pets include a dog found buried alive by its owner during a live TV interview.

Barbara Garcia was speaking outside of her destroyed home to a reporter from CBS News affiliate KWTV about the devastation in her town when her lost dog appeared.

Garcia looked over at her wrecked home during the camera interview and was telling the reporter that she believes her dog had been killed. Suddenly, her lost pet emerged from the rubble that was once her home.

She told the reporter "I was sitting on my stool holding my dog. This was the game plan all through the years to go in that little bathroom. I never lost consciousness and I hollered for my little dog and he didn't answer or didn't come."

But just as Garcia was telling KWTV about the fate of her dog, a member of the crew saw a dog, which made her turn around and see the head of her pet trying to free itself from the rubble.

The TV crew and Garcia helped the dog out. The dark grey miniature schnauzer was not injured.

Garcia, overcome with joy and emotion, exclaimed that God answered her prayers. "Help me! Oh bless your little bitty heart. Well I thought God just answered one prayer to let me be OK but he answered both of them because that was my second prayer."
