Derick Dillard: Christianity is not a passing fad as 'post-Christian' movement claims

There is nothing wrong with today's society enjoying different styles and fads. However, Derick Dillard, husband of Jill Duggar from the former TLC reality show "19 Kids and Counting," is concerned that some people are treating Christianity as a fad as well.

"One common fallacy in this 'post-Christian' American movement is that the Bible and Christianity [are] a passing fad from a culture of yesteryear, and that we, in our postmodern thinking, have to look beyond an ancient book if we ever hope to progress as a society," he wrote in the Dillard Family Blog. "And that is the very thing that any perceived enemy of God (the Bible calls him Satan), whose nature is the very opposite of God (e.g. deceptive, a thief, a murderer, prideful, a destroyer, etc...) would have the American people to believe."

According to Derick, people can neither change God nor His Word because they are already perfect. God's Word has always been the same, and it will always be the same, said Derick. If people try to change it, then it "would mean regression from perfection."

"I am not saying that Christ followers are perfect; we are far from it," he clarified. "But once someone makes the decision to follow Christ, the process of sanctification begins, meaning that God will put him or her on the right path, to look more like Jesus. Christianity, in its essence, is progress, in both a person's life and in the life of a nation."

What amazes Derick is that despite going through different seasons in life, God still continues to speak to His people using the same truths. So if people want to discover something wonderful that will last forever, he suggested that they "open a copy of God's word and prepare to have your mind blown."
